President Joe Biden has appointed Stephanie Psaki, a global health expert, to the new role of global health security coordinator.
The position was created due to the government’s struggles in responding to COVID-19, aiming to provide a designated coordinator for emerging health threats.
Although some conservatives may have concerns due to her sister’s involvement in controversial decisions, Rep. Gerry Connolly praised the appointment, highlighting that the coordinator position was created to prevent and respond to global health emergencies.
Great news from the White House today! My Global Health Security Act created the coordinator position to help us prevent and respond to the next global health emergency, and Dr. Psaki is exactly the right person for the job. https://t.co/GNpU29NSBu
