Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) announced her decision not to seek re-election after nearly two decades of serving Eastern Washington.
Known for her conservative stance on health care, the environment, and taxes, she held leadership positions within the Republican Party and emphasized issues related to health care, veterans, and rural communities.
“After much prayer and reflection, I’ve decided the time has come to serve them in new ways. I will not be running for re-election to the People’s House,” McMorris Rodgers asked.

McMorris Rodgers highlighted her values of service and unity in her announcement, calling for prayer and hope to overcome division and heal the nation.
“For years now, my team and I have lived and worked by our values of having fun while we SERVE — to Seek excellence, that Everybody matters, to Responsibly own it, practice Vigilant integrity, and Embrace change,” she said.
“No matter the division, we must unite in prayer. And as we do, we will bring hope and healing to broken lives, broken families, and broken systems failing broken people,” she said.
Her decision adds to the increasing number of Republicans in Congress not running for re-election.
