Fox News reporter Peter Doocy questioned President Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities, referencing a special counsel report’s conclusion about Biden’s poor memory.
Doocy directly asked Biden about his memory and ability to continue as president, prompting a sassy retort from Biden.
“Just how good is your memory, and can you continue as President?” Doocy asked.
“My memory is so bad that I let you speak,” Biden said.
Doocy expressed surprise at Biden’s response, emphasizing the seriousness of the question given the report’s findings.
“I was asking him if his memory is so bad that he has to step down as president. That is a very straightforward, but hard and uncomfortable question, and so I wouldn’t expect him just to laugh if off. It’s a serious thing. He needs to convince people that he can go another five years when there’s already 388 pages of a special counsel [report] saying he’s got serious lapses in his memory,” Doocy said.
“I wasn’t expecting him to go in there and just laugh it off,” he said.
The special counsel’s report highlighted Biden’s struggles with memory and the subsequent demand for a retraction from Biden’s attorneys.
“The special counsel could not refrain from investigative excess, perhaps unsurprising given the intense pressures of the current political environment. Whatever the impact of those pressures on the final report, it flouts department regulations and norms,” attorney Bob Bauer said.
The report has reignited public concerns about Biden’s age and cognitive fitness, as indicated by polls.
