At a Super Bowl press conference, a Fox News reporter questioned Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas about the failed impeachment vote, prompting an official to cut off the reporter.

Despite the reporter’s assertion that Republicans might have the numbers to impeach him in the future, Mayorkas stated he would not step aside.

“How do you feel this morning after narrowly avoiding impeachment yesterday?” Matt Finn asked.

The discussion also touched on the Senate’s failure to pass a bipartisan border security bill, with Mayorkas acknowledging the immigration system as “broken” and emphasizing the need for Congressional action.

“Oh, I’ve, I’ve answered this question before and I’ll gladly answer it again,” Mayorkas said. “The allegations are baseless and I’m focused on the work, which was what brings me to Las Vegas today.”

“If that happened, would you consider stepping aside?” Finn asked.

“No, I would not,” Mayorkas said.

“We need Congress to act, and we are hopeful that Congress will do so,” he said.
