A recent Gallup poll indicates that less than half of Americans are “very satisfied” with their personal lives, marking a decline over the past year and nearing a record low observed during the Obama administration.
The decrease in satisfaction aligns with periods of economic uncertainty, with negative views on the national economy also prevalent.
The combined percentage of U.S. adults expressing satisfaction with their lives is notably below the long-term average and has decreased by five points over the past year.
While majorities across various demographic groups express at least some level of satisfaction, only a few groups, such as those with higher incomes, married individuals, regular religious service attendees, college graduates, Democrats, and those aged 55 and older, report being “very satisfied.”
This comes as loneliness was declared a public health emergency in San Mateo County, California, with a significant portion of residents struggling with isolation and loneliness.
