Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republicans for their failed attempt to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
She highlighted the lack of experience and leadership in the current Republican speaker and emphasized the absence of evidence for an impeachable offense, labeling the impeachment attempt as completely politicized.
“Let’s just call a spade a spade here,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“Republicans are dealing with not their first-choice speaker, not their second-choice speaker, not their third-choice speaker.”
“They’re dealing with the speaker that they could get and that they could agree on,” she said.
Ocasio-Cortez also mocked conservative complaints about attendance counts, suggesting that it revealed the inexperience of certain individuals in the chamber.
