President Biden has made several gaffes by claiming to have spoken with deceased political figures, including German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and French President François Mitterrand.

Biden said, “I sat down, and I said, ‘America’s back.'”

“And Mitterrand from Germany — I mean from France — looked at me and said …” he continued.

“Well, how long are you back for?” Biden eventually concluded.

These incidents are part of a pattern of puzzling comments, including a claim to have spoken with the “inventor” of insulin, despite the inventors having passed away before Biden was born.

In 2022, Biden asked, “How many of you know somebody with diabetes and needs insulin?”

“Do you know how much it costs to make that insulin drug for diabetes? … It was invented by a man who did not patent it because he wanted it available for everyone. I spoke to him, OK?” he continued.

At an separate event, Biden said, “I want to thank all of you here, including bipartisan elected officials like … Senator Braun, Senator Booker, Representative … Jackie… Are you here? Where’s Jackie?” “I don’t think [inaudible] she was going to be here.”

This behavior has been observed at various events, raising questions about the accuracy of Biden’s statements regarding past interactions with prominent individuals.
