A security officer contracted by the U.S. State Department, Kevin Michael Alstrup, was arrested for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, facing charges related to entering a restricted building, disorderly conduct, and demonstrating in the Capitol Building.
The officer was employed by the State Department, and his arrest adds to the ongoing legal actions following the attack, which was instigated by supporters of former President Donald Trump.
Over 1,200 individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault, with many having pleaded guilty or been convicted at trial.
