Independent voters, comprising 43% of registered voters, are currently leaning towards former President Donald Trump by a narrow margin, with a 43% to 41% preference.
The survey also indicates that independent voters are split almost evenly between Republicans and Democrats.
As the partisan vote remains solid, winning over independent voters is crucial for securing victory in elections.
Both major parties need to focus on motivating independent voters, who make up a significant portion of the electorate.
Some independent voters are considering third-party and fringe candidates, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. leading among independent candidates.
“Both parties will have to focus not just on motivating their own voters, but in getting the increasingly sizable independent vote motivated as well.
