Country singer Toby Keith, known for immortalizing red Solo cups in his 2011 hit “Red Solo Cup,” passed away at 62 due to stomach cancer.
Fans and establishments paid tribute by raising red Solo cups in his memory, with some planning to fill them with various beverages.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn posted, “He was a great American and an exceptional storyteller who will be deeply missed in country music.”

The Solo cup, initially invented in the 1970s, remains a popular party essential, with Dart Container Corp. acknowledging its enduring popularity.

Despite Keith’s initial reservations about the song, “Red Solo Cup” became a beloved anthem for many.
Keith previously said, “It is the stupidest song I ever heard in my life, but it’s so stupid it’s good.”
