Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis is facing criticism for hiring an outside lawyer, Nathan Wade, with whom she is romantically involved, to help prosecute an election conspiracy case against Donald Trump.

Willis has defended the relationship, stating it has no impact on the case, but there are calls for either Willis or Wade to step aside due to the conflict of interest.

Willis is also facing criticism for breaking a promise she made to voters regarding relationships with subordinates.

The more crucial mistakes may prove to be Willis’ unwillingness to step aside given her conflict of interest as well as her willingness to allegedly misuse government funds on her romance with Wade.

“I certainly will not be choosing people to date that work under me. Let me just say that,” Willis said previously.

Despite her strong argument against the accusations, Willis may face challenges in the court of public opinion.

Her silence and delayed response to the allegations have further complicated the situation, and she is urged to consider having Wade step aside to avoid distractions from the case.

Wade said that “no funds paid to me in compensation for my role as Special Prosecutor have been shared with or provided to District Attorney Willis. The District Attorney received no funds or personal financial gain from my position as Special Prosecutor.”
