CBS offered to interview President Biden for the Super Bowl pregame show, but he declined for the second year in a row.
CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said “Yeah, simple as that. There’s nothing more to say about it. We were prepared to do it. And the White House declined the opportunity.”
“Not disappointed. I think it’s we were prepared to do it and, you know, we’re moving on to other subjects,” he continued.
CBS then declined former President Trump’s offer for the interview, stating they are focused on producing a football pregame show, not a political one.
“I don’t want to get into the politics. We’re here to talk about the game,” added the Chairman.
“We’re producing a football pregame show, not a political show,” McManus insisted.
“There’s no precedent for having any political figure other than the president give the interview. Fair enough?” he concluded.
This decision has sparked debate, with some seeing it as fair and others disagreeing.
