San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, a finalist for NFL MVP, emphasized his strong Christian faith ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.

In an interview, he expressed his belief in Jesus Christ and credited his faith for keeping him level-headed and focused in football.

Purdy stated his intention to use his platform to glorify God regardless of the game’s outcome.

“Yeah, I think the media for sure, there was questions brought up in terms of like, you know, ‘how do you do it? ‘ And for myself, it was, honestly, you want the truth? Because this is the truth. And I’m not going to just say a worldly answer of, I look in the mirror every night and I tell myself I’m good. It’s none of that,” Purdy said.

“It’s man, this is who God has called me to be and I’ve believed that from day one. I’ve believed that Jesus Christ did come down and died for my sins and rose again. And he’s living.”

“He’s living and sitting beside God on the throne. And so I believe that. It’s not just some story, fairy tale thing, it’s real,” he said. “It allows me to stay level-headed and real with life and I know what my purpose is. That all has allowed me to play my game and has allowed me to play football at this level.”

He previously credited his faith for the team’s victory in the NFC championship game, highlighting the role of his beliefs in providing peace and steadfastness.
