Former President Donald Trump offered to replace President Joe Biden for the traditional Super Bowl Sunday interview declined by Biden.
Trump expressed willingness to step in, citing potential “RATINGS GOLD” for the network. Critics questioned Biden’s decision to skip the large audience opportunity, with some viewing it as an admission of his inability to handle a softball interview.
“Crooked Joe Biden has just announced that he will not be doing the big Super Bowl interview. A great decision, he can’t put two sentences together. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO REPLACE HIM — would be ‘RATINGS GOLD!’” Trump posted.
“This is an admission by his handlers that Joe Biden can’t sit down for a softball interview for a football game,” communications strategist Steve Guest said.
“The country’s on fire! Everyone, down to the basement! ‘White House turns down CBS interview request for a Super Bowl interview with President Biden,’” Tammy Bruce said.
Biden challenger Rep. Dean Phillips volunteered to take the Super Bowl interview in Biden’s place, highlighting his readiness to engage with press and voters.
“I’m happy to stand-in for President Biden and do the Super Bowl interview. I also hold press conferences. I debate. I face voters. I face the press. And I face the future,” Phillips said.
