Apple’s release of the $3,500 Vision Pro headset garnered attention, as a user named Dante posted a video driving with the headset on, leading to police intervention.

The incident took place in Palo Alto, California, although the specific police department is unspecified.

Apple’s safety guidelines explicitly prohibit using the headset while operating a vehicle or engaging in activities requiring attention to safety.

Despite the premium cost, Apple sold out pre-orders for the device, with 200,000 units reserved by January 19.

The headset, announced alongside the iPhone 15 series, integrates virtual content into the physical environment using VisionOS.

VisionOS is described as “the world’s first spatial operating system.”
