Patrick Mahomes Sr. could face up to 10 years in prison for a third DWI charge.

He was arrested with an open beer in his car and failed sobriety tests. Despite this, he’s out on bond and plans to attend his son’s Super Bowl game.

“Based on the totality of the circumstances, I believed Patrick was impaired to a perceptible degree while operating a motor vehicle in a public place,” an officer wrote.

“To compete at the highest level is something that is rare and very special. For him to have the amount of success that he’s had this early on in his career is just surreal,” Mahomes Sr. said.

His son, Patrick Mahomes, mentioned that his father is “doing good” during a media event.

“It’s a family matter, so I’ll keep it to the family,” Patrick said. “That’s all I have to say.”

The quarterback’s brother, Jackson Mahomes, has faced legal issues related to alleged battery and assault.
