Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene called for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to resign after admitting to a romantic involvement with prosecutor Nathan Hale.

Greene urged a criminal investigation into Willis’s alleged misconduct, citing improper relationship and mishandling of taxpayer funds.

Despite Greene’s call, Governor Kemp rejected the request, stating that the complaint should be referred to the state’s oversight committee.

“Absolutely, she should step down,” Greene said. “She should be absolutely ashamed of herself.”

“There’s so much evidence coming out. I would love to see a criminal investigation. That’s what should be happening here, in the state of Georgia, against Fani Willis,” Greene said. “That’s why I called for Gov. Kemp and Attorney General Chris Carr to launch a criminal investigation.”

“You had Nathan Wade having sex with Willis to get a contract with the Fulton County and be hired as a prosecutor, so he never registered as a lobbyist. He never filed any of that paperwork,” she said. “I filed an ethics violation against him because Willis admitted that they have a relationship that should move the investigation against Nathan Wade to a different level.”

“The Congresswoman has every right to refer her complaint to the oversight commission once the legislative process concludes this session and the commission begins full operations,” a spokesperson for Kemp said. “Just last year, the Georgia General Assembly laid out a specific oversight process for district attorneys that is transparent and unbiased, which the governor supported and signed into law.”

“That’s bulls—,” Republican operative Mike Davis said. “He has statutory power right now to order a criminal investigation.”

“Don’t count them out,” Greene said regarding voters of Fulton County. “They got fed up with Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former mayor, sick of her, and you want to know why they got sick of her? They got sick and tired of her because she was against the police. And she was allowing this is back in 2020.”

Greene also filed a formal complaint with Kemp and the Republican attorney general, Chris Carr, alleging political bias and potential law violations.

The situation has raised concerns about Willis’s ability to continue in her role and her potential reelection bid in 2024.
