Keanu Reeves paid tribute to his late co-star, Lance Reddick, at the 51st Saturn Awards.
Reeves described Reddick as a remarkable artist and spoke about his impact on the “John Wick” franchise.
He emphasized Reddick’s character, Charon, as integral to the series and expressed his affection for the late actor.
“He’s such a remarkable person and such a remarkable artist,” Reeves said. “You can see over 25 years he gave such amazing performances and groundbreaking television shows. He did voice, he did like animation, cinema, television, video games, he just did it all.”
“Obviously he passed away too soon,” he added.
Reddick passed away last year, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and inspiration.
“He was kind, generous, creative, insightful, authentic,” Reeves said. “He had a special grace, strength, along with a vulnerability that drew us in, supported us, inspired us. He had a fire, creative fire. A light from within him that could not be denied.”
“I once … wrote him a letter and I said, ‘people love John Wick because Charon loves John Wick,’” Reeves said. “Because that character loved John Wick, that made John Wick OK. And so when I got to act with him, we had such an affection.”
