A trucker protest in Texas to pressure President Joe Biden to reinstate tougher immigration and border control policies turned away several groups considered too radical by event organizers.

Street preachers were denied entry, leading to confrontations.

The organizers emphasized the need for peaceful participants, excluding those with criminal records or who threatened the government.

“We came here thinking we might make some friends, but I guess our Christianity doesn’t mesh with whatever they’re trying to do here,” Open Air Outreach’s Jesse Morrell said.

“The convoy has been traveling across the country; they’re very tired. They’ve been dealing with a lot of criticism, threats, making them look like January 6ers,” Exiled Patriots’ Mike Forzano said.

“We’re not about confrontation here. If you’re about confrontation, you’re not coming in. To remain peaceful, we have to have peaceful people,” he added.

The protest was intended to support Texas’ recent actions to defy federal law and secure the border.

“No guns, no alcohol, no drugs, no offensive things– we don’t want that,” Forzano said. “There are people who are on a list to not be allowed. Those people are people who have threatened the government, threatened us, threatened people, maybe a little bit wild, or maybe criminal record– they’re not allowed.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered the Texas National Guard to occupy a park near Eagle Pass, setting up razor-wire barricades to prevent illegal entry, despite opposition from the Biden administration.

Several governors and members of Congress have expressed support for Abbott’s actions.

“We need to let Governor Abbott do his job, which is to put up the razor wire – I stand with Texas. We’ve got to secure this border,” Rep. Andy Ogles said.

“Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress, they are standing with the Mexican drug cartels,” Sen. Ted Cruz said. “They are standing with the invasion that is targeting our state. We have seen 9.6 million illegal immigrants enter this country since Joe Biden became president…and this is deliberate.”
