President Joe Biden asserted that if Congressional Republicans do not pass his border bill, former President Donald Trump will be the sole reason for the border’s lack of security.
Biden’s shift in stance on border security comes amid record numbers of illegal border crossings and increasing public disapproval.
He blamed Trump and Republicans for potential bill failure, despite having the authority to declare a national emergency and address the crisis independently.
Biden: But if the bill fails, I want to be absolutely clear about something. The American people are going to know why it fails. I'll be taking this issue to the country… the American people are going to know the reason the border is not secure is Donald Trump pic.twitter.com/5bRNFSlWjk

“If the bill fails, I want to be absolutely clear about something, the American people are going to know why it failed,” Biden said.
Biden emphasized taking the issue to the public and urged Congressional Republicans to prioritize national interests over party affiliations.
“I’ll be taking this issue to the country. And the voters are going to know that … just at the moment we’re going to secure the border and fund these other programs, Trump and the MAGA Republicans said, ‘no’, because they’re afraid of Donald Trump,” he said.
“Every day between now and November, the American people are going to know that the only reason the border is not secure is Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican friends,” Biden said. “It’s time for Republicans in the Congress to show a little courage, to show a little spine, to make it clear to the American people that you work for them, not for anyone else.”
