A Pew Research Center survey of 12,000 adults found that 53% of Americans consider football to be “America’s sport,” while only 27% chose baseball.
Football was favored across various demographics, including gender and ethnicity.
Despite this, 62% of U.S. adults do not closely follow pro or college sports, and 63% only discuss sports “just a few times a month or less often.”
Only 7% of adults identified themselves as “superfans” who frequently engage in sports discussions and follow the most popular leagues.
