Rep. Adam Schiff’s campaign for Senate released an ad seeking to boost the leading Republican, Steve Garvey, in the upcoming primary.
Schiff, currently leading in the polls, hopes that by promoting Garvey, he can avoid a costly battle with a fellow Democrat and secure a victory.
This strategic move aims to ensure a smooth path to the general election.

However, Schiff’s Democratic opponent, Rep. Katie Porter, criticized the ad, accusing Schiff of furthering his own political career and undermining qualified Democratic women candidates.
“That’s what this brazenly cynical ad is about—furthering his own political career, boxing out qualified Democratic women candidates, and boosting a Republican candidate to do it,” Rep. Katie Porter said.
“We need honest leadership, not political games,” she said.
Meanwhile, Garvey, despite defending former President Donald Trump, faces challenges in a state where Trump is unpopular and has limited resources for his campaign.
