The Senate has released a 370-page “border” bill that aims to increase the influx of legalized immigrants into American communities.
The bill is accompanied by a multi-billion dollar appropriations bill to fund resources for registering, releasing, transporting, and housing migrants.
Marketed as a “national security” bill, it has faced opposition from Republicans concerned about migration’s impact.
"I don't know what Speaker Johnson will do" when the border security bill gets to the House, @SenatorSinema says. When asked if Johnson can be persuaded to support the bill, Sinema says, "I think everyone has an opportunity to be persuaded…I simply mean: Read the legislation." pic.twitter.com/vNdz2SuVbW

The bill’s contents have been largely hidden, and it has been assembled by establishment advocates and their business donors.
It includes provisions related to legalizing immigration, addressing border chaos, and expanding white-collar migration into middle-class jobs.
The bill has a border “shutdown” trigger and is part of a larger policy of “extraction migration” to grow the economy.
