Two Kodiak bear cubs from southern Alaska were found wandering on a rural Florida roadway.
A local resident reported the unusual sighting, and an investigation confirmed that the bears had escaped from a nearby enclosure and were being housed by a local resident.
The bears were taken to a secure facility, and it was later revealed that they had traveled over 3,600 miles.
The resident now faces violations, and the bears’ return to Alaska remains uncertain.
The Kodiak bears are a subspecies of brown and grizzly bears, with only about 3,500 in existence.
