Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas advocates for a high-migration, low-productivity economy to address labor needs, emphasizing the importance of creating lawful pathways for migrants.
This approach has raised concerns about its impact on American workers, wages, housing, and societal cohesion.
Mayorkas’ immigration policies have allowed over 6.2 million migrants into the U.S. since 2021, leading to economic pressures and social division.
“So what I’m hearing you say is that you’d like to expand legal pathways in order to relieve some of the pressure on the Southern border where people come in illegally?” Lulu Garcia-Navarro asked.
“Yes, and to fulfill one of the goals of our immigration system,” Mayorkas said.
Despite this, his pro-Wall Street economic agenda has received limited attention from GOP legislators and the media, highlighting a potential disconnect with the concerns of the broader populace.
