Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) sparked controversy by suggesting the use of murderous tactics from the Chilean dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet on a reported undocumented migrant.
His tweet referred to the “death flights” conducted by Pinochet’s regime, where critics were thrown out of helicopters.
Collins’ post was initially removed from the platform but was reinstated with a note from Twitter, stating it may be in the public’s interest.

Critics, including MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, condemned the congressman’s post, expressing concern about a sitting member of Congress making such references.
“I think sitting members of congress calling for murdering people using the Pinochet regime’s preferred method of dropping them out of helicopters is really not great,” Hayes wrote.
