The Manhattan district attorney’s office is negotiating a plea deal with Allen Weisselberg, the former finance chief of the Trump Organization, requiring him to admit to perjury.
The development, while not directly impacting the case against Donald Trump, serves as a warning to potential witnesses in the Stormy Daniels hush money investigation.
It is seen as a move that could damage Weisselberg’s credibility as a potential defense witness in the trial.
“So this doesn’t directly relate to that,” Conway said, “but I think it’s a very, very important warning to any witness who’s called to testify in that case, on either side, that they better not lie because if they lie, then they could end up like Weisselberg, at Rikers or someplace unpleasant like that.”
