Joe Biden spoke to grieving Gold Star parents and repeated the false claim of losing his son in Iraq.
The parents of Specialist Kennedy Ladon Sanders, who died in a drone attack in Jordan, spoke with Biden, who initially offered condolences and news of their daughter’s posthumous promotion.
However, Biden then falsely claimed that his son died in Iraq, using it to relate to their grief.
Joe Biden tells the parents of one of the soldiers who died in Syria over the weekend that he lost his son Beau in Iraq.
His son died of brain cancer five years after returning from Iraq.

“Oh, well, I tell you what, it means a lot to me,” Biden said.
“My son spent a year in Iraq; that’s how I lost him.”
Biden’s son, Beau, did not die in Iraq but from brain cancer years later. Biden has repeatedly made this false claim, even to other Gold Star parents.
Biden’s behavior has been criticized as exploiting grief for political gain and lacking empathy.
