Sen. Marsha Blackburn expressed opposition to the proposed TikTok headquarters in Nashville, citing concerns about the app’s impact on children and its ties to the Chinese Communist regime.

At a Senate hearing on online child safety, Blackburn accused TikTok of prioritizing profit over the well-being of children and highlighted the platform’s harmful influence.

Executives from TikTok and other major tech companies testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the exploitation of children online.

“I know some of you had to be subpoenaed to get here,” Sen. Blackburn said.

“Mr. Chew, I want to come to you first,” she said. “We’ve heard that you’re looking at putting a headquarters in Nashville — what you’re going to find is that the welcome mat is not going to be rolled out for you in Nashville.”

“There are a lot of people in Tennessee that are very concerned about the way TikTok is basically building dossiers on our kids,” Blackburn said.

“Children are not your priority. Children are your product,” she later said.

Concerns were raised about TikTok’s role as a national security threat and its connection to the Chinese government.
