Arizona House Rep. Leezah Sun resigned just before a scheduled vote on her expulsion due to an ethics report finding a pattern of threat-making and abuse of office.
The report detailed instances of foul language, intimidation tactics, and a threat made to a group of lobbyists.
Sun denied the death threat accusation but eventually resigned.
“I just want the ability for our members to be able to just move on and work at this point,” Rep. Lupe Contreras said.
“And that’s what we’re going to do.”
“Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, when you pull those stunts, you need to be out of here,” Rep. Justin Wilmeth said.
House Democrats have recently faced resignations from three members, including Sun, and are preparing for a quick replacement process as per state law.
