Illegal migrants, including families with young children, are sheltering at international airports in major cities like Chicago and Boston.
In Boston, nearly 100 migrants are staying in a terminal at Logan International Airport, as the city’s other shelters have reached capacity.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, a Democrat, has capped the shelter system despite a right-to-shelter law, leaving 600 families on a waitlist.

“We need D.C. to act. We need Congress to act,” Healey said.
“The airport has been a wonderful partner and I really want to thank the folks at the airport who are doing a wonderful job including members of the state police who are working their regular shifts but who are managing the inflow and outflow of folks from the airport,” she said.
“When they come to Logan we meet them and we try to assist them, but we have to emphasize that Logan is not an appropriate place to house people,” Massport interim CEO Ed Freni stated.
Healey, among other Democratic governors, has asked for more funds from the Biden administration and congressional leaders to handle the migrant crisis.
The situation is also affecting Chicago, where hundreds of migrants are staying at O’Hare International Airport.
This influx of migrants has overwhelmed shelter systems in various major cities, including New York City.
