Donald Trump’s legal team plans to use a previously undisclosed “conflict of interest” between E. Jean Carroll’s lawyer and the judge in her defamation case against Trump to challenge an $83.3 million jury verdict.

The conflict arose from the fact that the judge and Carroll’s lawyer worked together at the same law firm in the early 1990s, with the judge allegedly serving as the lawyer’s mentor.

Trump’s attorney claims this was never disclosed and is an ethics violation.

“It was never disclosed. It’s insane and so incestuous,” Alina Habba said.

“This is news to us,” Habba said. “We are going to include this in our appeal and take appropriate measures. The fact it wasn’t disclosed is an ethics violation.”

However, Carroll’s representative denies any conflict of interest.

“They overlapped for less than two years in the early 1990s at a large law firm when he was a senior partner and she was a junior associate and she never worked for him,” representative Zak Sawyer said.

The case stems from Trump’s denial of Carroll’s sexual assault claims, for which he was previously ordered to pay $5 million and now faces the larger $83.3 million award, both of which he intends to appeal.
