President Biden is seeking to reinvigorate his campaign, facing low approval ratings and a strong challenge from Donald Trump.
To appeal to younger voters, his team is considering enlisting the support of celebrities like Taylor Swift, focusing on social media outreach and potential endorsements.
Swift’s previous endorsement in 2020 led to a significant increase in voter registrations.
“Taylor Swift stands tall and unique,” Gov. Newsom said. “What she was able to accomplish just in getting young people activated to consider that they have a voice and that they should have a choice in the next election, I think, is profoundly powerful.”
“It’s a lived experience for them,” Vice President Kamala Harris said.
“They’ve only known the climate crisis. Most of them have endured active shooter drills between kindergarten and 12th grade. During the height of their reproductive years, they saw the court take away an essential right for them,” he said.
“And so traveling the country makes a difference to one, listen, but to remind people that they are being seen and that what they do matters, including that they vote,” she said.
Harris is also engaging in nationwide tours to connect with young voters, emphasizing the importance of their voices and participation in the political process.
