Huthi rebels in Yemen have turned the hijacked Galaxy Leader cargo ship into a tourist attraction, charging visitors a dollar to visit the vessel, which is adorned with Yemeni and Palestinian flags.
The rebels see the ship as a symbol of solidarity with Palestinians and a response to the conflict with Israel.
Despite international efforts to intervene, including a US-led naval coalition patrolling the Red Sea, the mood on the sightseeing trips remains celebratory.
Visitors expressed pride in the rebels’ actions, while the fate of the ship’s crew, consisting of individuals from various nationalities, remains unknown.
It is our “pride and honour… that our armed forces have accomplished this wonderful work in supporting our oppressed brothers in Palestine and in Gaza,” one visitor said.
The rebels have launched attacks on commercial ships, posing a threat to global trade routes amidst the ongoing conflict.
