The Chinese government accused the US of provocation after a US warship sailed through the Taiwan Strait.
China defended its response and stated it will continue military operations in the area.
Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Wu Qian said, “U.S. warships and planes have caused trouble and provocation on China’s doorstep, and carried out large-scale, high-frequency activities in waters and airspace around China.”
Wu said China’s response was “justified, reasonable, professional and restrained.”
He said China will “continue to organize relevant military operations” in the Taiwan Strait.
China officially claims Taiwan, but the island operates autonomously.
The US and most countries recognize the “One China” policy.
The recent Taiwan presidential election resulted in William Lai’s victory, who campaigned on keeping a distance from Beijing.
Wu also alleged the Philippines violated “China’s sovereignty and making provocations in the South China Sea” for their construction in the Spratly Islands.
China denied providing weapons to the Middle East despite accusations from the Israeli military regarding Chinese-made weaponry in the Gaza Strip.
