Tesla is recalling nearly 200,000 Model S, X, and Y vehicles in the U.S. due to a software malfunction that could obstruct drivers’ visibility while reversing, posing a risk of crashes.
The recall is in response to a rearview malfunction caused by software instability, affecting models from 2023.
Tesla has issued a free over-the-air software update to address the issue, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has identified 81 warranty claims related to the problem.
This comes after a previous recall for new safeguards in Tesla’s Autopilot system following crashes involving stationary emergency vehicles.
