Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is seeking to exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy by late March or early April, as a judge allowed families owed $1.5 billion for defamation to vote on competing plans to resolve their claims.
Jones, who previously claimed the Sandy Hook shooting was a hoax, now faces legal judgments from families of victims.
The proposed plans include payment of at least $55 million to the families or liquidation of Jones’ assets, with the families estimating they could receive at least $85 million.
“Now that we’ve got some plans in place, that people can evaluate what it really looks like to go left or right. We have a chance at one more run at settlement,” Jones’ attorney Vickie Driver said.
Jones will attempt to reach a settlement with the families before the plans are submitted for final court approval, with a deadline for votes set for February 12.
