Jim Harbaugh’s agreement to become the Los Angeles Chargers head coach has sparked speculation about the potential addition of Colin Kaepernick to his coaching staff.
Kaepernick said, “Harbaugh is the one coach you call when you want to compete for a championship. Period.”
This stems from their history with the San Francisco 49ers and Harbaugh’s previous consideration of bringing Kaepernick onto his staff as a quarterbacks coach.
Kaepernick, who last played in 2016, has expressed interest in returning to the NFL as a player, but it remains uncertain whether he would consider a coaching role.
“I love Colin, did then, do now, always will,” said Harbaugh in 2020.
“I hope he gets a shot. I hope that he has a chance to play again and that he does play. Just my personal view on it,” he continued.
Despite his absence from the league, Kaepernick has been actively involved in social activism, criticizing the NFL’s approach to addressing social injustice.
