Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is calling for a ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, despite ongoing gang violence in his city.
He made these comments during a city council debate on a resolution condemning Israel’s actions against Hamas.
The debate was ironically disrupted by pro-Hamas supporters, and the resolution was ultimately delayed due to protests from aldermen.

“But at this point now, I believe we’re looking at 25,000 Palestinians that have been killed during this war. The killing has to stop. So, yes, we need a cease-fire,” Johnson said.
While Johnson expresses concern for the situation in Gaza, critics have pointed out the ongoing violence in Chicago.
