CNN’s Kaitlan Collins questioned Rep. Bob Good about his shift in support from Ron DeSantis to Donald Trump.
Good claimed a video showing his critical comments about Trump was deceptively edited, arguing that it omitted his praise for the former president.
Collins played a clip where Good expressed regret over supporting Trump, which he explained as a decision based on DeSantis’ electability.
Collins said, “You are on camera very critical of Donald Trump.”
Rep. Good explained, “You take part of the sentences out, and you get a different conclusion from that sentence or a different inference from that sentence.”
Rep. Good said in the clip, “I decided to endorse DeSantis in May because I felt like, you know what, I can’t sit by and watch and then regret that we nominated Trump.”
Rep. Good explained the clip “takes out the part where I praise President Trump and I said, ‘He was the greatest president of my lifetime.’”
Good’s initial endorsement of DeSantis had upset some Trump allies, leading to his removal from the House Freedom Caucus.
The video in question was anonymously posted and edited, prompting accusations of disloyalty from figures like Marjorie Taylor Greene.
“You’re asking me privately, I don’t say this in public,” said Good in the video.
Rep. Greene previously called Rep. Good a “disloyal fake MAGA Trump traitor.”
