The Texas Military Department (TMD) is maintaining its position in Shelby Park to deter unlawful entry into the state, despite a demand from the Department of Homeland Security to release control of the park.
TMD officials posted, “We remain resolute in our actions to secure our border, preserve the rule of law, and protect the sovereignty of our State.”
Governor Greg Abbott has reaffirmed the deployment of razor wire along the Rio Grande border, emphasizing the state’s commitment to securing its border and preserving the rule of law.

Gov. Abbott posted, “We will continue to deploy this razor wire to repel illegal immigration.”
The U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of a Temporary Restraining Order has allowed U.S. Border Patrol agents to cut or remove the razor wire, but Governor Abbott has expressed determination to continue using it as a deterrent.
Gov. Abbott added, “This is not over. Texas’ razor wire is an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings Biden encourages.”
