Governor Gretchen Whitmer emphasized in a recent interview that despite current polling, the upcoming presidential election in Michigan will be close.

She stressed the need for continued effort and engagement, highlighting the state’s status as a purple state.

Whitmer also discussed concerns about the U.S. economy, acknowledging positive indicators but criticizing the high cost of living and housing accessibility for young people.

“I think everyone should always focus on Michigan,” Whitmer said.

“It’s always going to be close in this state. Even though we did something that hadn’t been done in 40 years by flipping the House and the Senate and all Democratic controlled at the moment. It’s- the work is never done. You cannot make any assumptions about what the next election is going to bring, based on the last one in a state like this. You got to show up. You got to do the work and show people that you really care about them.”

Whitmer went on to criticize President Biden for the ongoing crisis at the southern border, deeming it an enduring emergency.
