British tennis reporter Mike Dickson passed away suddenly while covering the Australian Open.
Known for his extensive sports coverage, he worked for the Daily Mail for 33 years and covered over 30 sports in 50 countries.
“We are devastated to announce that our wonderful husband and Dad, Mike, has collapsed and died while in Melbourne for the Aus Open,” Dickson’s family wrote. “For 38 years he lived his dream covering sport all over the world.”
“He was a truly great man and we will miss him terribly,” the statement added.

“Dicko was everything you want a correspondent to be – a brilliant news hound, a terrific writer and a friend to so many in his sport. The world of tennis will join us in mourning. He was a giant of a journalist,” tennis publisher Lee Clayton said.
Dickson’s clash with tennis star Novak Djokovic over vaccination refusal was notable, but despite their differences, Djokovic paid tribute to Dickson’s career and offered condolences to his family.
