Shock Report Finds Feds Spent $20B on Migrant Refugee Assistance

Researchers found that Congress allocated $20 billion over two fiscal years for refugee and entrant assistance, managed by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Costs rose from $8.925 billion in fiscal year 2022 to $10.928 billion in fiscal year 2023.

The agency proposed expanding services for immigrant minors, additional funding for legal assistance, and cash assistance for college students.

They also distributed $1.5 billion in discretionary grants, with significant spending increases in recent years.

The new ORR director, Robin Dunn Marcos, had previous affiliations with organizations that received substantial grants.

Open the Books auditors have requested emails between Dunn Marcos and IRC officials in May 2023.
