Gov. Ron DeSantis raised concerns about obstacles facing former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, citing an enthusiasm problem and voters who may not want to support Trump again.
Despite suspending his own campaign and endorsing Trump, DeSantis did not actively campaign for him in New Hampshire and opposed a proposed Florida bill to use taxpayer funds for Trump’s legal fees.
This led to the bill being withdrawn by state Sen. Ileana Garcia.
“When I have people come up to me who voted for Reagan in ’76 and have been conservative their whole life say that they don’t want to vote for Trump again, that’s a problem,” DeSantis said.
“I think there’s an enthusiasm problem overall, and then I also just think there are some voters that have checked out at this point that you got to find a way to get them back,” he added.
Trump, when asked about the feud with DeSantis, mentioned his forgiveness but did not comment on the possibility of DeSantis as a running mate.
I’m “a very forgiving person” when questioned regarding DeSantis.
