Disney has requested a second delay in a legal battle with Governor Ron DeSantis’ appointees over control of Walt Disney World’s governing district.
The company accuses the governor’s office and appointees of withholding documents.
A district employee’s deposition revealed that the board’s politicization led to the departure of around 50 employees.
“There is a very, very, very politically motivated board, and I know we try not to acknowledge that, but that is a huge reason why a lot of people are leaving,” public records administrator Erin O’Donnell said.
“Other people may have had their own issues with leadership … but a lot of people have left just due to the entire shakeup of the district.”
“It’s just very hard to go through our day-to-days not hearing about all the extra news happening,” O’Donnell said. “So I think that just, in their own personal lives, and what they’ve done, or what affiliations they’re a part of, have just been extra noise, so to speak, at the district.”
Disney claims the district and governor’s office are delaying document production.
The district has denied such and accused Disney of a politically motivated “fishing expedition.”
The turmoil following the board’s takeover has impacted operations and morale.
The appointees’ backgrounds and distractions from their personal lives have also added to the disruption.
