Actor David Emge, known for his role as Stephen “Flyboy” Andrews in George Romero’s “Dawn of the Dead,” has passed away at 77.
Emge, who served in the Vietnam War, found success in Hollywood after being cast in the 1978 horror film.
Despite initial controversy, the movie became a major success, leading to further roles for Emge.

Emge said in 1979, “I loved that movie,” about “Dawn of the Dead”.
“It was filmed outside of Pittsburgh in a nine-week shooting schedule with two weeks off for Christmas. A cold spooky show … Half of it was shot inside the shopping mall. We worked from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and had free run of the place,” she continued.
He described the production as unforgettable and is survived by family members.
