Dexter Scott King, the youngest son of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, passed away at the age of 62 after battling prostate cancer.
Born in Atlanta in 1961, King followed his father’s legacy, attending Morehouse College and later focusing on protecting his family’s intellectual property.
He was the chairman of the King Center at the time of his death.
King is survived by his wife, Leah Weber King, his sister Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King, and his brother Martin Luther King III.
Weber King said, “He gave it everything and battled this terrible disease until the end.”
“As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might,” she continued.
