Trooper critically hurt by suspected drunk driver while helping motorist with flat tire

An Indiana state trooper was critically injured while helping a stranded motorist change a flat tire on the interstate when a suspected drunken driver struck him.

The trooper, Azariah Keith, was hit by a speeding SUV while putting away his equipment in the trunk.

The driver, Armaandeep Singh, was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and causing serious bodily injury.

The trooper suffered critical injuries and was in stable but serious condition in a local hospital.

Charges against Singh will be determined after review by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
