Rep. Nancy Mace endorsed former President Donald Trump, a move seen as a snub to Nikki Haley in her home state.
Mace had previously criticized Trump but now seeks unity behind the nominee.
Rep. Mace wrote, “Today, I’m endorsing Donald J. Trump for president.”
“I don’t see eye to eye perfectly with any candidate. And until now, I’ve stayed out of it. But the time has come to unite behind our nominee,” her statement continued.
Rep. Mace previously said, “To be honest, it’s been a complete s— show since he left the White House.”
“Our country needs to reverse all the damage Joe Biden has done,” added the lawmaker.
This follows Sen. Tim Scott’s recent endorsement of Trump after being asked by Haley.
Mace’s decision may impact the 2024 race in South Carolina, where Haley is expected to compete with significant support for Trump.
Democratic challenger Michael B. Moore challenged Mace to endorse either Haley or Trump, suggesting she was waiting to see the political winds before making a decision.
